Poison Ivy [Sep. 22nd, 2009|08:41 am]

Good morning gardening chums :)

I caught myself some Poison Ivy a couple weeks ago and then again a couple days ago. It's all down between my fingers and they are actually starting to hurt. I'm pretty sure I thought it was a weed and pulled it up and that's how it got between my fingers. Unfortunately, I can't be 100% sure about that which is a problem because I don't know where I keep getting this from. I've walked my entire property and don't see Ivy, Oak or Sumac yet I know it's here somewhere.

Anyway, I thot this would be a good place to ask if anyone had a remedy for the burning and itch I'm having. This is the second time w in 3 weeks that I've gotten it and it's worse than last time.

Please send me your suggestions. I'd really appreciate it :)

Take and antihistimine like Benedryl to releive some of the symptoms and I find Caladryl clear lotion soothes that itch a bit.

Do you have a dog or maybe petted one? Sometimes people get poison ivy from that after a dog has brushed through poison ivy: the oil remains on their fur and transfers to you. I've gotten it that way before.

I started taking the benedryl yesterday. It helps. I've never used caladryl but will look into it when I go get the prescription my doc phoned in a little bit ago.

Yep, I have an indoor/outdoor cat who I hope, hope, hope is not responsible for passing the oils to me.

Thanks for responding :)
